And the postman leaves gifties...

I came home to package on my porch this evening. And inside were a whole bunch of books and a birthday present!!! Yeah!!! Happy Monday to me!
The yarn is Zen Yarn Garden Bling Luxury yarn and it has silver threads that are woven through it that you can see on the picture above...

And, you know I finished a pair of socks last weekend...and although I've gotten lots of sock yarn recentlky...the sparklies just called to me...
I don't know what I'm going to do yet pattern wise, but I wanted to start the toe and hope it will speak to me. Yeah!!!

My quest to do nothing today, didn't really work out that way. I was up early. Earlier than I've gotten up since I returned from my Christmas Holiday if that tells you anything. I did laundry. I put away clothes. I watched the Prjoect Runway reunion and I must say I like this season better than last season.

Then, returning to my vow to do nothing today, I laid down and took a nap. It was cloudy and cold outside and I was all snuggled up in bed. It was wonderful.

Didn't do much else. I started a dishcloth, but I messed it up and ripped it out. I turned the heel on the second Neopolitan sock. Nothing too interesting. Tomorrow's goals. Go to work and finish the stupid pre-test for this certification I'm going to kill myself studying for and do my taxes. Unpleasant day all around.

I'm tired. I'm mentally exhausted. I can't function to knit. It's really sad. Even sadder, after working 56 hours this week, I'm going to have to work this weekend. UGHHH!!! My plans for the weekend include doing nothing...more nothing and still more nothing until I have to work on Sunday.

I think I might re-evaluate my knitting projects this weekend. I think it might be time to put some away and pull out others i.e. the Nashua Surplice top, so that I have a chance of finishing it to wear this summer. :-) I also need to reorganize my yarn, so on this cold weekend, maybe I'll do that...

So much for doing nothing...

You know, you work 12.5 hours and your starving and you stop and Wendys for a Spicy Chicken Sandwich and you get all the way home and realize that instead of your wonderful Spicy Chicken sandwhich, you have plain single hamburger... UGHHH!!!!!! It's 9:15pm, I'm not going back.

In other news, I was on a call and my credit card slipped... It should hopefully arrive this week or sometime next and it wil be unveiled...

Now, I just need to stop working so much so I can knit some...

Milestones

My car is sitting down in the parking lot of my apartment complex sitting at 99,999 miles. Tomorrow morning on the way to work, it will turn over 100,000 miles. Probably even before I pull out of the apartment complex. Wow. Now it's definitely time to get a new car.

of car shopping and FOs...

So, I finally got around to doing some car shopping experience this weekend. I, of course, fell in love with the car which costs more than I want to spend...the Audit A4 I also looked at the new 08 Chevrolet Malibu and the Toyota Camry. I really went to look at the Toyota Avalon, but apparently the only thing the very rude salesman was interested in selling me that day was leftover 2007 Camry's. I was unamused... I liked the Malibu okay, but I decided I wasn't really a fan of On Star. I think I'd feel like I was disturbing someone. I much prefer a navagation system. I guess my problem with car shopping is I haven't fallen in love with something for the money I want...want being the operative word...to pay.

There was a finished object over the weekend.
It's the River Rapid socks from Sock Bug. I knit these on size 00 needles in the Socks That Rock Lagoon colorway. I love that they didn't really stripe or pool. Alas, they're in size 9, so they won't fit me, so I'll have to give them away to their intended recipient.

I did not have much yarn left over at all after making these. As long-time readers know, I'm making a blanket out of squares of left-over sock yarn. I had enough to make 1 square and very little left over.
For an update on squares for the sock yarn blanket, I have 48 completed squares. I need to get back and work on this. I have a basket full of sock scraps ready to be knitted.

Yarn fairy

The yarn fairy paid me a visit today....Or I should say the wonder full Kris from Sonny & Shear.
Look at how fabulous she packages. And she inluded a wonderful little note and some tea bags. And what was in those bags you ask???
20 skeins of Mission Falls 1824 Cotton and Smooshy Sock Yarn!!! Yeah. I bought it on sale. 12 skeins of the Mission Falls is to make a Mason Dixon Log Cabin blanket for a baby of a good friend and the rest, because Mission Falls is always good to have around...and the Smooshy...just because it was on sale...

9.2 miles...1 hour 45 minutes to get home... Yes, after working 10.5 hour. UGHHH!!!!!! Just the perfect end to the day and tomorrow's only Wednesday. Hopefully my car won't be iced shut tomorrow morning (we are under an ice advisory) because I have an early morning tomorrow. Won't that be special.

Good news the baby (and his parents) went home. I'm sure they'll all appreciate sleeping in their own beds tonight. Yeah!

I'm back from being curiously absent for awhile. My nephew had lung surger last week, so I've been taking care of my brother and sister-in-law. Bringing them food as a respite from the terrible hospital food and trying to be there for them. The little one is finally doing better. He and I played peek-a-boo today and he smiled and laughed. It was wonderful to see and I'm so proud of him to go through all this at 7 months old. He's a real trooper. Hopefully he'll go home from the hospital soon and my bro and SIL can sleep in their own bed. I know they're waiting for that.

Other than that, not much else has been going on.

Not dead yet...

Just really burned out... Combination post-holiday let down, lots o'work, work travel and becoming yet another year older... Ugghh! Glad January's over and I can get on with life.

There has still been knitting...
I finished the first of the Riber Rapid socks and started the second. It's almost too bad I'm not keeping them for myself. Too Bad I don't wear a size 9...

Ouch!

Too much forward momentum today and I ended up doing a faceplant in front of my office building today in the rain. Ugghhh! I kind of look like I took a swing at a guy because my knuckles got all bloody. I have 4 bandaids on my knee. My hands are both a little sore, but I think I can still knit (thank god). I came home after that to change my full set of clothing and just worked from home for the rest of the day. Ughhh!!!! Worse yet, I was in my new white sweater and fell onto blacktop. UGHHH!!!! And after I was so proud of myself for managing to each Minestrone soup without spilling a single drop on myself.
